This two-day event involved workshops and presentations of all 9 Work Packages, plenary meetings, and stakeholder (representatives, research organisations, NGOs, SMEs, students, wider public) presentations on perceived needs from training providers, followed by discussions. • Validation summary

During this event core groups met and continued their core work, but in addition a feedback validation exercise took place. For this we developed a Validation Summary document, in which you can read how we  liked the vertical (WP1 - 6) and horizontal WP’s (consumer groups, students, researchers, industry) to interact during the annual event. The aim of the annual event was to bring together all the stakeholders of the thematic network (educators, researchers, industry representatives, students and consumer groups) in order to present the progress of the networks core groups at this interim phase and obtain feedback from all network members to ensure that the network activities meet the stakeholders’ expectations.

  • EU Maritime Green Paper

During the Annual Meeting a worthwhile discussion around many of the European Commission Green Paper “Towards a Future Maritime Policy for the Union: A European vision for the oceans and seas” issues related to AQUA-TNET areas was held and as a result AQUA-TNET formally made a submission to the European Commission. It was concluded by the AQUA-TNET network that insufficient importance had been given to Aquaculture in general and Education and Training issues in particular. This report has been published on http://ec.europa.eu/maritimeaffairs/index_en.html (contributions received >> number 410).
